Bake a batch of crunchy biscotti with nuts, fruit and/or chocolate. These delightful Italian biscuits make a lovely homemade gift and go well with coffee.
I think these twice-baked, very crisp biscuits are great for children to make and eat.
After that, the adults in true Italian fashion sit down with a glass of chilled Vin Santo, and dip them into it before each bite.

Directions Instructions Checklist
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 150 degrees C. Grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper.

Step 2
In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla until they mix well. Add butter. Combine the flour and baking powder, mix with the egg mixture to make a heavy dough. Form a piece into a roll. Place the roll on the prepared cookie sheet and squeeze to 1/2 inch thickness.

Step 3
Bake for 25-30 minutes in a preheated oven until golden brown. Remove from baking sheet to cool on wire rack. When the cookies are cool enough to process, cut each crosswise into 1/2 inch slices. Place slices with the cut side up on the baking sheet. Bake for an additional 6-10 minutes on each side. Slices should be lightly toasted.
