Piadina (broccoli, sweet onion & gorgonzola) – A short walk away from Loreto underground station lies a SENSATIONAL Piadineria serving up the finest versions of the famous Italian snack/dish. Wonderfully crispy flatbread is stuffed with toppings of your choice for an awesome culinary experience. This version was our favourite! Total price – €6.50 (£5.93)

Aranciata Amara (bitter orange drink) – A delicious and refreshing bitter orange drink that is fizzy. It has been consumed in the region for a thousand years! Be warned, it’s very bitter! Total price – €2.80 (£2.56), same location but can be found around Milan.

Piadina (salmon, tomato & mozzarella) – Delicious option which a less pungent cheese. Fresh produce all round from the basil to the salmon. Total price – €7.50 (£6.85)

Sweet Piadina (Nutella, hazelnut and apricot jam) – This was a wonderful sweet variation of the Piadina. The bread is made to be softer and more doughy than the savoury version which allows it to absorb the Nutella like a sponge! DELICIOUS! Total price – €4.50 (£4.11)

Pizza (Margherita) – Boy was this a treat! Ultra deep pan pizza, each slice almost the size of a loaf of bread! You can choose your toppings there ended up being a lot of anchovies on ours! Spontini is a very popular chain eatery in Milan and so you’ll find stores all over. The one we ate at was a stones throw away from the iconic Duomo of Milan. Total price – €5.00 (£4.57)

Pizza (Marinara) – This special style of pizza comes with no cheese, just that amazing tomato sauce. Very tasty and an all round different experience. Total price – €6.00 (£5.48)

Panzerotti – Just opposite the Spontini we enjoyed lies Luini bakery. This wonderful little establishment has been around since 1949 and all started when a woman called Giuseppina Luini moved from Puglia to Milan with her family in 1949. She took over a bakery, and began selling her family favourite – Panzerotti, a dish originating in the south. Soon enough, it became a hit with the Milanese locals. Total price – €2.60 (£2.38)

Bruschetta – Just minutes away from the famed leaning tower of Pisa, there are a number of restaurants serving up some good grub. Enjoy a nice meal with a view of the historic monument. There are plenty of restaurants on this strip to choose from. We got the simple, yet delicious Bruschetta, a typical antipasti dish in Italy. Total price – €2.50 (£2.28)
