This is one of those things that people seem to only know about if they’re from the Detroit area in Michigan. Apparently passed down from Sicilian immigrants a very long time ago, ammoghio sauce is still a family favorite to serve with sausages, breaded meats, or bread.
Spelled a dozen different ways and sometimes described as an “Italian salsa,” ammoghio is a very simple recipe that’s served cold or room temperature.
