The BEST WAY to VISIT the CINQUE TERRE? From LA SPEZIA by TRAIN!

We docked in La Spezia during our Costa Diadema France, Italy and Spain Cruise. A short walk from the cruise terminal, through La Spezia town centre, and you arrive at the train station. We had prebooked our Cinque Terre train ticket and this gacve us unlimted access to the villages of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. We faced a number of issues but hope this VLOG helps you make the most of your visit to this beautiful destination.

The Cinque Terre, located on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline, is a stunning and picturesque collection of five centuries-old seaside villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Renowned for their colorful houses and vineyards clinging to steep terraces, the villages overlook the sparkling Ligurian Sea and are surrounded by lush hills and cliffs. The area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a unique blend of natural beauty, historical architecture, and cultural richness. Hiking trails, such as the famous Sentiero Azzurro, connect the villages and provide breathtaking views, while the local cuisine, featuring fresh seafood and regional specialties, delights visitors. Accessible by train, boat, or on foot, Cinque Terre remains a captivating destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure.

good morning and welcome to laspia in Italy yes this is our second Port of Call here on our custodia demo Cruz yesterday we were in the beautiful Port of saona and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we’re really looking forward to getting off and having a look around lsia in particular the sinera hi if you’re new to our Channel we are Tom and Dom travel and we release a new cruise and travel related video every single week so if you haven’t done so already make sure you hit that subscribe button and give this video a like straight after breakfast we headed back to the cabin grabbed our bags and then headed off the ship now getting off the ship was super easy we disembarked within about 5 minutes outside of the ship then there were three shuttle buses waiting for us to take us outside of the port the port here you cannot walk yourself you need to catch one of these free shuttle buses but when we got outside the ship there were two buses waiting so there was no cues whatsoever and before we knew we’ arrived at the T teral entrance fortunately the terminal is located just off the main shopping street so it wasn’t too far at the Cru Port Terminal there were lots of taxis lots of buses what we planned to do today is we’ pre-booked a syera ticket cost us 18 we booked it online a couple of weeks prior to our cruise and this gives us unlimited travel between all of those five sinera towns and villages to get to the sinin though you need to take the train well in our case we decided to take the train you there is also tours offered from the cruise ship itself from Costa but we chose to do it by ourself we walked all the way through leps perhaps we got last one or two times along the way but all in all it took us about half an hour to walk to the train station not very far at all there are other transport options at the cruise terminal there were taxis and buses that were all offering sort of trips to the main Central’s train station but we saved ourselves some money by walking and we did experience some spectacular views and some traditional Italian architecture once we arrived at the train station as we said we had pre-booked our ticket so there was no need to do any of that messing around with buying a ticket or validating the ticket but it is important that we tell you about it anyway you must buy yourself a ticket before you bought the train and more importantly you need to validate that ticket before getting on the train itself you could avoid all that by buying your tickets in advance online the online ticket that we bought didn’t need to be validated as it had a specific time and date in which we could use it printed on the ticket itself so no need to validate and queue and have to worry about all of that fuss the trains between laspia and the Sina towns run every 20 minutes during the peak season now fortunately we’re here just at the beginning of November which is the end of the peak season so those trains were frequent and Incredibly comfortable yes those trains are really modern and there plenty of seating there’s also USB ports and plug sockets available if you need them all in all the train journey to the first of the towns was probably only about 15 minutes but we chose to go all the way to the end of the line unfortunately the first two towns and Villages were closed due to extreme weather so we made our way to the end of the line just so we could make our way back and to get to monteroso from laspia took us around about 30 minutes not long at all once we arrived in monteroso we headed down a couple of flights of stairs and we arrived in the main Town Cent now monteroso is pretty flat and it is lined with a beach or supposed to be lined with a beach unfortunately as we said the weather wasn’t particularly great today it was cloudy and the sea was in so that meant we couldn’t really access any of the beach but we did have a look at some photos that show the beach looks lovely in the sunshine we walked along the hole of the seafront where there we some cafes and places to grab a drink but right at the end of the seafront there is this absolutely huge statue that overlooks the sea and to be honest with you it looked absolutely spectacular today with the waves crashing up against it on a normal sunny day Monto Roso is an incredibly popular Beachside destination and it’s set up and catered for that type of holiday maker if you’d come here to do hiking unfortunately all the hiking trails were closed so there is an option to walk between all five towns on hiking trails but that was not available today it’s important to note that our sinera ticket that cost us around about 18 20 included access to all of the hiking trails now we didn’t plan to do any hiking at all however a single trip between each individual Town cost5 each so if you’re looking to visit more than one of the towns in the Cera it’s going to be worth your while purchasing one of these tickets after spending around half an hour there in the first town monteroso we got back on the train for about 5 minutes and entered the second of the town vazza now this was truly a spectacular little town beautiful narrow little streets shops and cafes all Lin in the main sort of walkway down towards the harbor absolutely beautiful it was this is the place where you can get lots of souvenirs there’s lemon cello shops there’s small cafes selling pizza and coffees there’s some really really nice Boutique type shops here it does feel much more of that typical Italian tone as you walk through the main town you get to the harbor and it was picturesque beautiful it was a little bit windy and the waves were sort of crashing over the harbor wall but it was still very very beautiful they had predicted rain but it was overcast but fortunately we didn’t have any rain right at the front is restaurant Luca so we know this area of Italy is where Luca the Disney film is based so if you are a Disney fan maybe this is worth a visit we decided to sit down and experience some authentic Italian food and beverages we ordered ourselves a pizza and some traditional Italian wine which were both spectacular we only went for the margarites pieza cuz we wanted to keep it simple I don’t know what they do here in Italy but they do pizzas better than anywhere else we sat down for lunch with sisters on the Seas who had accompanied us on this trip and they also ordered a pizza and shared with us that bottle of wine after a spectacular lunch there in the second of the towns in Leena we then headed into a church now this church was quite unusual as it was built above those crashing waves of the sea really traditional really like medieval feel to it it was very dark it was built out of individual stones and it was beautiful very different to the church which as we’ve been to recently M from the church then we headed up some of those narrow traditional Italian streets we’re talking about they were super narrow they just gave us such that Italian authentic feel that we were looking for we also headed up some of those steps didn’t wi there’s a lot of steps about in these Villages so it’s really interesting to walk up and down but please be aware if you have any mobility issues that sometimes these villages in the Sinker a are not the easiest to navigate after having a little walk around we decide to head back to the train station to visit the next town on our stop we got to the train station and pretty much another train we were waiting maybe about 5 10 minutes to get on the train there was a slight delay but again really easy process we didn’t have to validate any tickets we just literally waited there and hopped on the train when it came fantastic and then 5 minutes on this train and we’ arrived at our next destination corniglia no we didn’t know what to expect cuz once we got off the train we thought oh there’s nothing here at all because unlike the other two stops there was no Town surrounding the train station at all we exited the train station and we followed a path to the left of the exit where we found there was a bus stop now we wasn’t sure what the bus stop was for but there is a minibus service available we found out shortly why it wasn’t long as we wandered down this path before we came across a huge amount of steps to take us up to this Village we couldn’t have counted them all the steps were absolutely massive going all the way up the side of this mountain slill I suppose the locals will be quite used to it however it was quite enduring and anybody with any mobility issues will really struggle to get up them steps yeah I would say even if you’re questioning your Fitness get on the bus but we did we were already committed so we were halfway up and we found ourselves taking a couple of breaks with sisters on the Seas as we made our way up to the top of this huge set of stairs once we arrived at the top that was pretty much the town of corniglia it was a really really pretty Town actually I think it’s probably my favorite one it just felt the most traditional much smaller more compact little shops built into the sides of houses and the the little setups outside it was pretty beautiful there seemed to be a lot of gelato shops also in this town you could really feel the sort of isolation of corniglia because it is perched right on top of this hill SL Mountain up until recently with the main train line being introduced I say recently but perhaps 50 years it would have been incredibly difficult to get to on top of the Town itself was several churches and we popped into one of them and this was completely different to the church that we did in the last town this was much smaller very squared very very pretty and lots of detail painted on the ceiling what this town does offer that none of the others do is spectacular views you can see right across the ocean You Can See For Miles it is worth the walk up those stairs for that view alone it is spectacular so after a brief look around called giglia we decided to make our way back towards the train station we had to walk all the way down the steps which wasn’t too bad and then walked along the path towards the train station waiting at the train station for around about 10 15 minutes and then another train came again super super easy the journey took us about 15 minutes to get back to laspia once we got to laspia we exited the train we found ourselves walking back through the main shopping area of lasus which is really easy to navigate and there’s several signs along the way which tell you the way back to the cruise terminal so there shouldn’t be any difficulty in finding your way back to the ship the main shopping street of laspia is massive and has many many different shops if you’re looking to do a bit of shopping perfect destination it is filled with tearing apartment blocks that feel really traditional have those Italian balcon so it’s lovely just to have a walk around after about a 20 minute walk 25 minute walk we arrived back at the cruise terminal it was a very straightforward process we walked through the cruise terminal onto a waiting shuttle bus and then it drove us straight back to diadema no queueing whatsoever we were straight back on the ship through security done we’d had an absolutely fantastic day in laspia and exploring the sinera we’re a little bit disappointed that we didn’t manage to visit all five but realistically in one day three was about the the right amount we would have struggled for time if we tried to squeeze in all five and perhaps we might have just rushed some of those towns and Villages as well so I think three is a good number and it just gives us a reason to come back next time thanks for watching our day in laspia exploring the beautiful sinera if you’ve got any comments or questions make sure you pop them in the box below and we’ll get back to you also if you want to 1. Hey guys, we watched this last night. This port isn't on our itinerary, but has made us want to visit the Cinque Terre! The info on the trains was great to know. What a beautiful part of Italy. We would definitely visit out of season too. Loving your Costa vlogs! Cheers for
