What is authentic Italian food – Italian food that you can find outside Italy is not always the most authentic. What is Italian food than? Let’s explore together what to expect when visiting Italy.

1) What is Authentic Italian Cuisine, Anyway Authentic Italian cuisine is very regional and localized. Seasonality is very important! Every season has its dishes based on what is fresh at the time.
2) The antipasto, primi, secondi rule! Every Italian meal is usually composed of multiple courses and most of the time family style.
3) Italian food is simple. Few ingredients but of great quality. Usually you will find one star ingredient and a bunch of supporting actors!
4) What is not Italian food: let’s start with the pasta noodles they are cooked al dente in a lot of salty water! Pasta is not a side dish, EVER! Especially Italian will never ever put the pasta on the same plate with salad! Ever! Spaghetti and Meatballs, Fettuccine Alfredo, Veal Parmesan, Italian Dressing, chicken piccata, garlic bread do not exist in Italy.
5) Let’s talk about coffee and what it is in Italy No cappuccino after 11 am!
6) So what you should expect when you visit Italy What restaurants you should avoid while in Italy if you want to experience true Italian food.
