Exploring Tuscan Castles in Italy | Castello Di San Fabiano | Kirby’s Grand Italian Tour

As our Grand Italian Tour continues, the time has come to venture outside of Florence in search of quality, craftsmanship, and tradition. I have rendezvous with my good friend Michele Calzolari, who will be my traveling companion for the rest of the trip through Italy.
On what has begun as an exquisite morning, what better way to explore the beautiful Italian countryside than in his vintage Mercedes SL convertible.

We are traveling towards Siena, just a little under 50 miles south of Florence, to Monteroni d’Arbia, to visit the historic Castello San Fabiano, a magnificent 13th century castle owned by Michele’s close friend Benedetto Fiorentini. Operating as an exclusive Airbnb, Benedetto has kindly offered to allow us to stay with him and his family during our time in Tuscany.

The property is amazing, and I am really looking forward to hearing him share with us some of the incredible stories about the castle, the local region and, of course, his family’s distinguished history – one that has been part of the fabric of the region for centuries…

  1. Tuscany is probably #1 warm weather destination on the bucket list, what an incredible history, landscape and culture!

    Don Andrea exudes sprezzatura!

  2. Tuscany is an amazing place, outside tourist season and always funny most Americans who visit don't speak one word Italian … 🤨

  3. What’s your opinion on using machine AMF pick stitching for made-to-measure suits? Should this detail be reserved for bespoke and hand-made suits, or is it acceptable for made-to-measure as well to have the machine version?

  4. Kirby, My wife and I spent a couple of weeks in Italy this past June and stayed at a similar family owned house in Siena. Magical place. We both enjoyed watching your video and plan on staying at this Tuscan castle during our next trip. Thank you for yet another highly entertaining and educational video. Cheers! Sean

  5. In 1977 I had the distinct pleasure of visiting a wool fabric manufacturer in Novara. Exquisite fabric which retailed for $100/meter in 1977. I wonder if they are still in business
